Philip J. Rulli 1940-2025

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Philip J. Rulli, 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 22, 2025, at Windsor Estates.
Philip was born Aug. 23, 1940, in Youngstown, a son of Nicola and Arveda Griffa Rulli. He was a lifelong resident of the Youngstown area.
He was a 1958 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and attended Youngstown State University. Philip served in the U.S. Air Force from Sept. 12, 1958, until Sept. 11, 1962.
Philip worked for Youngstown Sheet & Tube until its closing and then went on to work in maintenance for Campbell Memorial High School until his retirement in 2005.
Philip was of the Catholic faith and was a former member and usher of St. Lucy Church in Campbell.
Philip enjoyed pistol shooting and was an excellent marksman. He belonged to the Pulaski Sportsman Club. He also enjoyed bowling and going for his morning coffee at McDonald’s on 422.
Phillip will be deeply missed and always remembered by his lifelong friends of over 74 years, Dr. Joseph (Nancy) Ortenzio of New Middletown; his goddaughter, Dr. Rebecca (David) Lee of Vienna ,Virginia; and Capt. Aaron J. (Tamu) Ortenzio of Pembrooke Pines, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Philip’s care has been entrusted to the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell. Private services were held.
Philip will be laid to rest in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Cemetery in Lowellville.
Philip’s chosen family and lifelong friends would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to the staff of Windsor House for the excellent care Philip received over the past six years.
