Youngstown man pleads guilty to six counts of compelling prostitution

YOUNGSTOWN — Larry Burgess, 36, pleaded guilty to nine charges Thursday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, including six counts of compelling prostitution. He will be sentenced Sept. 16.

Burgess had an address in Youngstown in another criminal case from 2024. In addition to the mid-level felony counts of compelling prostitution, Burgess pleaded guilty to a high-level felony of corrupting another with drugs, and single counts of trafficking in cocaine and trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound, both low-level felonies.

In exchange for Burgess’ guilty pleas, prosecutors dismissed two counts of rape and several other charges, including several more drug trafficking charges, being a felon in possession of a firearm and receiving stolen property.

Prosecutors are recommending that Judge Anthony Donofrio sentence Burgess to five to six years in prison.

According to one of Burgess’ indictments, between Dec. 22, 2023, and Dec. 23, 2023, Burgess administered or furnished a person with a controlled substance, or induced or caused the person to use a controlled substance, and thereby caused serious physical harm to the person or caused the person to become drug dependent.

That was the basis for one of Burgess’ compelling prostitution charges.

Starting at $3.23/week.
