Youngstown brewery honors Canfield Fair
Staff report
YOUNGSTOWN — The Canfield Fair has announced its collaboration with Youngstown-based Penguin City Brewing Co. to release a limited-edition commemorative beer can celebrating its 179th fair, which takes place Aug. 27 to Sept. 1.
This special release honors the fair and its traditions while spotlighting the region’s brewing community. The can design marks a partnership between two iconic Youngstown-area institutions.
For the downtown brewer, the moment is personal.
“The Canfield Fair has been a beloved yearly tradition for me since I was a little girl,” Aspasia Bernacki-Lyras, Penguin City Brewing Co. co-owner, said, “so creating this special can for the fair is truly beyond anything I could have dreamed of.
“We’re honored to now be a part of the Canfield Fair’s rich history and tradition, and we can’t wait to keep growing alongside them for years to come.”
According to George Roman, the fair’s director of grandstand events, “This partnership is a natural fit, two hometown favorites coming together to create something that celebrates everything we love about the Valley.
“It’s more than a can; it’s a toast to tradition, community and the local spirit that makes the Canfield Fair so special.”
The commemorative can will be available beginning in mid-July at most local beer and wine retailers and the Penguin City Brewing Co. taproom, 460 E Federal St., Youngstown.
