City woman accused in Liberty chase

Staff report

LIBERTY — A “be on the lookout” request was issued to surrounding law enforcement after a Youngstown woman with active warrants through several agencies led Liberty police on a high-speed chase through the township Friday afternoon.

According to the police report, an officer noticed and identified Jennifer Mondora, 46, in a gray Honda CR-V in the parking lot of the Logan Way Dollar General, driving up near her vehicle to confirm it was her. The officer ran the vehicle’s license plate and confirmed she had multiple active warrants through both the Mahoning and Trumbull County Sheriff’s Offices, as well as the Austintown Police Department, for theft offenses — one of which was a felony, according to the report.

The officer also noted Mondora’s driver’s license and vehicle registration were expired, and she began leaving the parking lot as officers began coordinating to bring her into custody.

The reporting officer caught up to Mondora as she turned onto Monticello Drive and later Mill Run Drive and started to back into a driveway.

The officer turned on his emergency lights and attempted to position his vehicle in front of her, but Mondora accelerated around him and drove through the house’s yard.

According to the police report, Monadora disregarded a stop sign at Monticello Drive and Logan Way, nearly colliding with a white Subaru along the way. The Subaru’s driver later called the police department and asked to be a witness, telling the officer he “feared for his life”.

The report states that as Mondora approached the Logan Way and Ravine Drive intersection, the officer estimated her speed to be “100 MPH or more.”

He continued to pursue her, but because he wanted to safely cross the area, the officer lost track of Mondora and terminated the pursuit after attempting to track her westbound on Gypsy Lane.

Because he was able to get a good visual, the officer requested that a temporary warrant for failure to comply be issued and entered her vehicle into LEADS as a felony vehicle. The agencies with warrants for her arrest were also contacted by dispatchers and told of the incident.
