Ankle bracelet helps cops find B&E suspect
YOUNGSTOWN — Antwon Teemer was arraigned on a felony charge Monday in Youngstown Municipal Court in a Friday morning breaking and entering on Lexington Avenue on the North Side in which his electronically monitored ankle bracelet aided police in apprehending him.
Bond was set at $3,500 during his arraignment, but he also has an alleged parole violation, according to jail records. It is not known whether that will affect his ability to post bond
A Youngstown police report states that police were called to Lexington Avenue for a motion alarm and was advised by a victim in front of the house that Teemer, 38, had just broken in through the rear window and fled south through rear yards toward Arlington Park nearby, a Youngstown police report states.
The person said Teemer was about 40 years old and wearing a dark rag on his head, dark pants and an ankle monitor. The victim said he or she was on the phone with Teemer’s parole officer from the Ohio Adult Parole Authority, and he was actively tracking Teemer and advised that Teemer was in the Otis Street area.
Officers checked the area and continued to receive updates from the victim, who continued to get updates from the parole officer. Next they were advised Teemer was near Park Avenue and Covington Street near St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, then closer to a wooded area at Hayman and Covington streets.
Officers then spotted Teemer closer to Griffith Street as a loose pit bull in the area began to bark ferociously. Multiple officers filled the area, and Teemer surrendered and was handcuffed.
Ambulance personnel treated him at the scene for scratches from the heavy brush “and the loose pit bull,” the report states.
Officers later learned from the victim that an alarm company notified them at 8:07 a.m. Friday. The victim responded immediately and saw the rear bedroom window broken and a mountain bicycle that had been in the basement now in the yard and Teemer fleeing the scene, the report states.
During a search of the area, the victim found a television and coat that had belonged to the victim’s deceased mother, as well as a purse in an Arlington Park pavilion.
The parole officer told police that he could provide detectives with the tracking information from Teemer’s ankle bracelet if it was needed, the report states.
Some records in Youngstown Municipal Court and the Mahoning County jail spell Teemer’s first name Antawon.
