Youngstown man sentenced to 6 to 7.5 years in prison in 2024 shooting

YOUNGSTOWN — Jonathan Lozada-Martinez was sentenced to 6 to 7 1/2 years in prison Wednesday after pleading guilty earlier to two counts of felonious assault and gun specifications for a June 24, 2024, incident.

The two counts of felonious assault were for causing serious physical harm to two people as a result of gunfire at an East Side Apartment complex.

Youngstown police said at the time that Lozada-Martinez, 31, drove to the apartment complex and was arguing with a family member there when he fired gunshots.

Nick Brevetta, Lozada-Martinez’s attorney, told Mahoning County Common Pleas Judge Maureen Sweeney Wednesday that injuries to one of the victims was not that severe because the person was able to walk into the Youngstown Police Department the next day to talk to police.

Lozada-Martinez got credit for 289 days in the Mahoning County jail awaiting trial.

Starting at $2.99/week.
