Ambulance found in Youngstown after theft

WARREN TOWNSHIP — An ambulance stolen from the Warren Township Fire Station on North River Road NW was recovered on the South Side of Youngstown, authorities said Friday.

Warren Township Trustee Ed Anthony confirmed that the theft occurred early Friday after a passerby noticed the station’s bay door open and reported it to dispatch around 9 a.m.

Law enforcement, including the Warren Township Police Department, quickly issued a “be on the lookout” alert for the stolen vehicle.

The stolen ambulance was later located at Homestead Park in Youngstown, though the circumstances of how the vehicle ended up there remain unclear.

Anthony noted that security footage from the station showed the ambulance leaving the premises at approximately 5:30 a.m., but no further video evidence is available regarding the theft.

“We’re shocked,” Anthony said. “Our buildings are securely locked, and we’re trying to figure out how someone could have gained access.”

Authorities are still investigating how the suspect entered the fire station and whether any medical equipment inside the ambulance is missing.

The Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office is assisting in the investigation, according to Warren Township’s fiscal officer.

Starting at $3.23/week.
