WHAT: Trustees meeting June 18

PRESENT: Tom Frost, Alan Hemphill and John Jakubec

Trustees:

● Heard from Zoning Inspector Bill D’Avignon about a meeting he and Hemphill had with Sheetz, the Mahoning County Engineer’s Office and a representative from GPE regarding traffic and Bailey Court East Road issues.

● Approved police Chief Peter Rozzi’s FMLA paternity leave.

● Approved the following purchase orders: $3,514 to Atlantic Emergency Solutions; $5,000 to Austintown Township; and $9,450 to Locality Media.

● Heard from fire Chief Michael Mortimer that Bluejay Fire Camp will be hosted at the Jackson Fire Department Aug. 2 and 3 from 2 to 4 p.m.

● Heard from Mortimer that Bryce Fisher completed his probation and successfully completed Firefighter 1 and 2 training. Trustees voted to move Fisher off his probationary status to regular status.

● Heard from Mortimer he was able to start staffing the fire department for four days, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Three days of staffing remain and July’s schedule is being finalized.

● Approved sending fire Engine 66 in to repair phone issues at a cost of $5,226.

● Approved Rozzi’s request to auction a blue 2009 Volkswagen EOS with a salvage title and Unit 98, a 2010 Chevrolet Impala. Both auctions will run until June 29.

● Heard from Rozzi the department received an email from the Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Hearing Protection Pilot Program. The department was chosen to receive hearing protection for all officers, which will be used at the firing range.

● Approved Rozzi’s request to apply for the 2024 JAG Grant, which opened June 24. Rozzi said he plans to apply for new portable radios for the department, costing $22,121. This will replace four XTS radios that no longer will be in operation next year.
