Woman shot in the face while driving in Warren

WEATHERSFIELD — Officers responding to a car crash in Weathersfield found a woman who had been shot in the face.

According to a report from Weathersfield police, the crash occurred in the area of Niles Carver Road and Salt Springs Road around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday.

Upon arrival, officers found the woman holding a balled up T-shirt to the right side of her face. She told officers that she had been shot in the face, according to the report.

Officers quickly determined that the shooting did not occur at the scene of the accident and that it was an unrelated matter.

The woman told officers that she had just been picked up by her boyfriend from work in downtown Warren.

The woman said she and her boyfriend were driving south down Pine Avenue near the steel mills when a vehicle traveling behind hers began flashing its headlights repeatedly, according to the report.

The woman described the vehicle as a “newer white SUV,” possibly a Jeep.

The woman said the vehicle began to drive around her and her boyfriend’s vehicle in the right lane. The woman said once the SUV was parallel with her vehicle, its driver began shooting at her, possibly five to six times according to the report.

The report said the woman was bleeding from her right cheek and nose area.

The woman did not see what the driver of the SUV looked like. She was transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

The Warren Police Department was notified of the incident.
