YOUNGSTOWN — Two volunteer fire departments in Mahoning County have received a grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
Getting money through the Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant Program were Coitsville Fire Department, $3,053 for wildfire personal protective equipment fittings and wildfire tools, and Sebring Fire Department, $9,666 for structure fire personal protective equipment, according to a news release.
The grants can be used for firefighter personal protective equipment, fire suppression equipment, utility-terrain vehicles, slip-in wildfire pump units, radios, tools and other items used in fire department operations.
The grant program provides supplemental funding to rural fire departments facing limited resources that serve communities of less than 10,000 people.
