YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County Coroner’s Office identified the man shot to death Wednesday on the city’s North Side as James Merchant, 28.

Youngstown officers dispatched to 926 Almeda Ave. found Merchant deceased in the driver’s seat of a black Chrysler SUV, according to police report.

An autopsy was conducted at the Cuyahoga Medical Examiner’s Office. The case is being investigated as a homicide, police said.
