Animal Charity rescues cows, other livestock
YOUNGSTOWN — Animal Charity of Ohio carried out two rescues this week — one of them being the first time humane agents here rescued seven cows.
Animal Charity declined to identify the location where the cows were discovered while an investigation continues, but the cow manure in their pens was several feet deep, and the animals were “quite literally stuck,” the charity stated on its social media.
“Several were down and struggling to breathe. None were able to safely move or even move at all because of how stuck their legs were in the thick sludge,” the donation-driven charity reported.
The cows “were struggling and suffering severely,” and some “may not make it,” the post stated. Animal Charity thanked the experts and professionals who assisted in getting the cows to safety. Caring for the cows will require veterinary care, transport and legal fees, Animal Charity noted.
The other matter involved a horse and goat that were rescued, apparently from Beaver Township, because a post about the rescue thanked the Beaver Township Police Department for its help.
Charges are pending in that case. Emergency veterinary care has been arranged for the two animals, and Animal Charity is “hoping for good news,” the post states.
