Porn case leads indictments

YOUNGSTOWN — A Mahoning County grand jury on Thursday handed up 24 indictments for felony cases.

Included in the indictments was a 12-count case involving downloading pornography filed against a Sebring man.

Scott E. Augustein, 56, of 535 N. 19th St., faces nine counts of illegal use of a minor or impaired person in nudity-oriented material or performance and three counts pandering sexually-oriented matter invovling a minor or impaired person. The felonies are all on the fourth- or fifth-degree level, meaning if Augustein is found guilty of all charges, he could face a maximum 13 1/2 years in prison plus be labeled a sex offender.

Augustein has been free since posting a bond of $25,000 on Feb. 3. The case was investigated by Sebring police.

A Brooklyn, Ohio, woman also was indicted on charges of felonious assault and improperly discharging a firearm with two firearm specifications connected to a Feb. 12 shooting of a Youngstown woman at an Anoka Lane address.

Shannon S. Wilson, 31, 4339 Ridge Road Apt. 8, Brooklyn, has been free after posting a $15,000 bond on March 8, court records show. She will be arraigned Tuesday in Common Pleas Court. Reports show Wilson was arrested Feb. 23 in Westlake.

On Feb. 12, police were called to a South Side home near Mill Creek Park to investigate a gunfire call and found a woman lying in the driveway who had been shot twice. A police officer had to use a tourniquet on the woman to stop the bleeding.

The following people also will appear for arraignments next week in Common Pleas Court at the county courthouse in downtown Youngstown:

• Samuel L. Sweely, 58, 465 W. Ohio Ave., Sebring, endangering children and domestic violence;

• Robert J. Ford, 29, 254 Melrose Ave., Boardman, felonious assault;

• Brandi R. Lykens, 26, 2723 Dearborn St., Youngstown, theft;

• Charles C. Ruple, 40, 137 Charles Ave., Warren, two counts, receiving stolen property;

• Tyler M. Stoddard, 27, in care of Mahoning County jail, forgery, passing bad checks and theft from a person in a protected class;

• Orenzo J. Walker, 28, 3032 Goleta Ave., Youngstown, unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and possession of cocaine;

• Dale E. Kennedy, 39, 163 Lauderdale Ave., Youngstown, tampering with evidence, having weapons while under disability, aggravated possession of drugs with firearm specification and possession of drugs with firearm specification;

• Jabriel Amaad Khri Moody, 24, 756 Sherwood Ave., Youngstown, aggravated possession of drugs with forfeiture and firearm specifications, and possession of cocaine with firearm and forefeiture specifications;

• Tara M. Stewart, 33, in care of Mahoning County jail, receiving stolen property, possessing drug abuse instruments and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia;

• Jabre D. Toomer, 31, in care of Mahoning County jail, possession of a fentanyl-related compound;

• Jarreze L. J. Roper, 20, 1931 Youll St. No. 45, Niles, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle;

• Michael Q. Bentley, 35, in care of Mahoning County jail, receiving stolen property, unauthorized use of a vehicle, possession of cocaine and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia;

• Raymond J. Floyd, 42, 50 Shields Road, No. 3, Boardman, passing bad checks, forgery and receiving stolen property;

• Michael M. May, 45, 2135 Elbern St., Youngstown, having weapons while under disability and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle;

• Alyssa D. Shaffer, 25, in care of Mahoning County jail, possession of cocaine, falsification, obstructing official business and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia;

• Brent M. Collier, 36, in care of Mahoning County jail, possession of a fentanyl-related compound and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia;

• William T. Allen, 56, in care of Mahoning County jail, two counts, passing bad checks and theft;

• Deshawn J. Evans, 26, 4888 Westchester Drive, No. 3, Austintown, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle;

• Clarence D. Bradley, 28, 556 N. Dunlap Ave., Youngstown, having weapons while under disability, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, and obstructing official business;

• Taylor R. Steele, 27, 631 W. New York Ave., Sebring, aggravated possession of drugs;

• Nicholas Y. Felder, 23, 1635 South Heights Ave., Youngstown, receivng stolen property and obstructing official business.

The following misdemeanor case was remanded to a lower court:

• John R. Whitten, 45, 1847 Woodland Trace, Austintown, two counts, aggravated menacing, two counts domestic violence, endangering children and criminal damaging or endangering.

The following case was no billed, or no indictment handed up:

• Eugene J. K. Wilson, 39, 553 Moherman, Youngstown, theft.
