19-year-old pleads to patient abuse

YOUNGSTOWN — Sultahn E. Honzu, 19, of Southern Boulevard Northwest in Warren, pleaded guilty Wednesday to patient abuse for actions against a client at health care facility where Honzu had worked.

Prosecutors in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court are recommending that Honzu get one year in prison. Judge Anthony D’Apolito is presiding over the case.

In addition to Honzu, the company where Honzu worked, Penny’s Behavioral Healthcare, and George D. Gunther, 19, of Jackson Street Southwest in Warren, were indicted on one count of patient abuse. Their cases are pending.

The charges stem from allegations that the two men and the business committed abuse against a 17-year-old non-verbal boy with autism. The abuse is alleged to have taken place at the client’s home in Austintown, prosectors said.

An assault charge against Honzu was dismissed in exchange for his guilty plea.

According to the Ohio Secretary of State’s Office, Penny’s Behavioral Healthcare is a limited liability for-profit company organized Jan. 8, 2021, to “provide services to individuals with developmental disabilities.”

Its registered agent is “Registered Agents Inc.” of Market Avenue in North Canton, signed by Bill Havre as statutory agent.
