Father, son charged in Campbell shooting
CAMPBELL — A Campbell father and son charged in a Dec. 30 shooting, Alexander Mercado, 36, and Alexander Comacho, 19, faced Judge Patrick P. Cunning on Tuesday in Campbell Municipal Court.
Mercado faces two counts of felonious assault, and his bond was set at $400,000. Comacho faces one count of felonious assault, and his bond was set at $200,000.
A preliminary hearing is set for both 10 a.m. Friday.
Police were called Friday to a residence in the 100 block of Jean Street on reports of multiple shots fired.
Police found a man, identified in the report as Luis Fernando Dominguez-Rodriguez, lying in the street as several individuals attempted to render him aid. Police observed Dominguez-Rodriguez to be wearing blood- soaked clothing, and a small pool of blood had formed around him, according to a police report.
The report states the officers got to work tending to Dominguez-Rodriguez. They observed gunshot wounds to his left flank, right buttocks, left posterior mid-back and his left armpit.
Witnesses at the scene said before the shooting, the victim and Mercado were talking in the street. When an allegedly intoxicated Mercado approached with several individuals, an argument ensued with Dominguez-Rodriguez, leading to Mercado shooting him from close range, the report states.
After the shooting, witnesses saw Mercado flee eastbound behind 100 Jean St. to a nearby apartment.
Dominguez-Rodriguez was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
