YOUNGSTOWN — A woman reported that a woman with a gun tried to break into her apartment through a window Monday evening at the ESA Apartments on Kendis Circle on the East Side.
Police were called to the apartments at 6:20 p.m. Monday for a fight with a gun. When they arrived, they heard a window shatter, then observed Taylor D. Greer, 26, of Kendis Circle, walking nearby. Officers had been provided with a description of the clothing the suspect was wearing.
Because of the nature of the call, police placed Greer in handcuffs. Officers noticed Greer was bleeding from lacerations on both hands, according to a police report.
Greer was placed in the back of a cruiser and an ambulance was called for Greer’s injuries.
The alleged victim told police Greer had come to her apartment at 6:15 p.m. Greer banged on the window and asked “Is my son here?” she told police. Greer shattered windows, then started to climb through the window, the police report states.
The victim said she struck Greer to stop her from entering the apartment.
Officers observed two broken windows and a blue hat next to the window. Greer was advised she was being arrested for “forcing entry into an occupied structure with the intent to cause physical harm.”
Greer was arraigned Wednesday in Youngstown Municipal Court on a charge of burglary, a second-degree felony punishable by about eight years in prison if convicted. Judge Carla Baldwin set bond at $5,000, and Greer posted bond and left the Mahoning County jail later Wednesday, court records show.
She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Dec. 28. She also was arraigned on a charge of misdemeanor criminal damaging on Wednesday, pleading not guilty.
