Austintown school gets achievement award

AUSTINTOWN — Austintown Intermediate School is one of few schools statewide to be recognized for a high level of achievement with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, the school district announced.

PBIS involves teaching students expected behaviors in a consistent and positive way, modeling and acknowledging those behaviors, and helping all students meet expectations to be successful. The process emphasizes data for decision making, evidence-based interventions and practices that support varying student needs, systems that efficiently and effectively support implementation of these practices, and continual progress monitoring to ensure outcomes are met.

The intermediate school is one of just 41 schools statewide to be recognized for an Ohio PBIS Gold Level Recognition Award for the 2021-22 school year, Austintown schools said in a news release. AIS will be honored at the 2022 Ohio PBIS Showcase and Ohio Leadership Advisory Council virtual conference Dec. 6.

Starting at $3.23/week.
