Several Diocese priests retire
YOUNGSTOWN — Bishop David Bonnar of the Youngstown Diocese has announced the following retirements and assignments:
• Msgr. John Zuraw, former pastor of St. Rose Parish, Girard, has been named administrator pro-tempore of the parish while the Rev. Joseph Ruggieri has been granted a temporary leave of absence for health reasons. Zuraw will remain pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles and chancellor of the Diocese. In a news release, Bonnar said he was thankful to the Dominican priests at St. Dominic Parish in Youngstown, who have been saying weekend and daily Masses in Ruggieri’s absence.
• Rev. James Korda will retire from Christ the Good Shepherd Parish in Campbell and from CTNY, the diocesan television station, effective July 1.
• Rev. Michael Mikstay will retire from St. Patrick Parish in Kinsman and Our Lady of Victory Parish in Andover, effective July 1.
• Rev. Patrick Manning will retire from special ministries for the Diocese, effective July 1.
The following priests from Stark County parishes will retire effective July 1: Msgr. Frank Carfagna from St. Joseph Parish, Canton; Msgr. Lewis Gaetano from Christ the Servant Parish, Canton; Rev. Edward Gretchko from St. Mary Parish, Massillon; Rev. Raymond Paul from St. Joseph Parish, Massillon; and Rev. John Zapp from Holy Spirit Parish, Uniontown.
