BOARDMAN — A student in Boardman honored bus drivers in the district.
Gregory Carbon, an eighth-grader at Boardman Glenwood Junior High School, made more than 60 personalized cards, one for each bus driver and the transportation director, in honor of School Bus Driver Appreciation Day, which was Monday.
Using an application called Pic Collage, Carbon included photos of each driver’s specific bus along with a personal message, as he knows nearly each personally.
“Gregory reminds me so much of myself at that age,” said Ryan Dunn, transportation director for the Boardman Local School District. “Gregory jokes with me that someday, he wants to have my job.”
Carbon’s bus driver from last school year, Kelli Leshinsky, said: “He would somehow be the first out to the bus at the end of the school day, and he would always offer to help me sweep my bus or do some cleaning. He’s such a respectful young man.”
The act of kindness added a little extra joy to the day, driver Krissy Manis said. “It really was nice Monday morning, having that card there before I started my route. It really does make you feel special.”
