Columbiana man accused of thefts at 2 Boardman stores

BOARDMAN — A Columbiana man is facing charges after being accused of stealing from two businesses.

Brandon Baier, 27, is charged with theft, possessing criminal tools, receiving stolen property and possession of drugs/drug abuse.

Police said they were dispatched to Target earlier this week for a theft report of video games.

The store’s loss prevention officer was able to share information about the suspect, later identified as Baier. The employee also stated that Baier had a knife and wire cutters, according to a police report.

While police made their way toward him, Baier headed to Ulta Beauty. His car was located, with the games in sight.

Upon leaving the beauty store, police handcuffed Baier. Officers noticed makeup sticking out of his pocket, the report states.

According to the police report, he asked officers if the arrest was due to stealing the makeup. Officers told him it was initially due to the Target theft, to which Baier replied, “Oh, ok.”

Baier was arrested on a theft charge.

Officers asked Baier if they had consent to search his vehicle. They also explained he did not have to do so, and a warrant would be issued after it was impounded, the report states.

Baier then told police: “I have some weed in there, on the front seat I think.” He consented to officers looking through the vehicle, requesting they not destroy it.

Officers found marijuana and several vials of steroids. While searching his person, officers also found the knife and wire cutters, the report states.

Baier was taken to the Boardman Police Department where he was booked and released on a summons to appear at Boardman County No. 2 court.
