State agents cite Quench Bar in Boardman

BOARDMAN — Quench Bar, located on Market Street in Boardman across from St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital, has been cited by the Ohio Investigative Unit of the Ohio State Highway Patrol for violating public health orders.

According to a press release, the establishment received a citation for improper conduct-disorderly activity stemming from a case being handled by the Boardman Police Department on Jan. 10.

Officers observed approximately 15 people consuming alcohol inside the bar after 11:30 p.m., exceeding the current 10 p.m. statewide curfew mandating restaurants and bars be closed no later than 10 p.m. because of the pandemic.

Next, the case will go before the Ohio Liquor Control Commission for possible penalties, which may include fines as well as a suspension or revocation of standing liquor permits at the bar.

Recently, two other local bars, Tommy Dogg’s on state Route 46 in Niles and The Rig on East Market Street in Howland, also were cited for violating the 10 p.m. curfew. The Rig was cited twice within a month.

Both bars were cited for improper conduct and disorderly activities.

Neither an owner nor management at Quench could be reached for comment.
