YOUNGSTOWN — What happens when a former boxer in a Jaguar and a woman in a Honda get into a road rage situation?

Apparently surveillance video at a Youngstown gas station will be the final judge.

ROUND 1

A 26-year-old Campbell woman (5-foot-1, 110 pounds) advised police that she became “enraged” when the Jaguar passed her on Interstate 680 in Austintown about 4:21 p.m. Wednesday.

She decided to follow the Jaguar all the way into Youngstown — for about 20 minutes — until both cars stopped in the Check N Go Mini Mart, 1739 Wilson Ave. The woman told police she found it “annoying” that the man in the Jaguar continually “brake checked” her, meaning he hit the brakes to cause her to have to slow down.

ROUND 2

The woman in the Honda and man in the Jaguar (5-foot-5, 140 pounds) got out of their cars at the gas station to confront each other and went toe-to-toe.

The woman said she “lightly” pushed the man back from her, and he put her in a chokehold.

The man, who also has a Campbell address, said he pulled into the gas station after 20 minutes of being followed because he did not want the woman following him home.

While they were “face-to-face,” the woman pushed him and “punched him in the nose,” he said.

“He advised officers that he was not too upset about having been punched, as he was a former boxer and being punched in the nose was no big deal to him, but that what set him off was when (the woman) punched her arms through the open passenger window of his auto and struck his wife,” police reported.

ROUND 3

The man put his arms around the woman in the Honda to try to subdue her. Officers noted that the woman in the Honda had a scratch on her cheek.

A witness said he thought it looked like the woman was the aggressor, but he did not see the entire fight. Police advised the woman it is not safe or legal to follow someone around as a result of road rage.

The staff at the Check N Go advised that the surveillance footage from the parking lot would be made available later.

The police made no decision on whether to file charges pending further investigation, and both parties went back to their vehicles, police said.
