City woman killed while walking
BOARDMAN — A Youngstown woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle Monday while walking in the dark.
Petra Marquez-Torres, 70, was walking southbound in the middle of the outside lane on state Route 7, or Market Street, just after 9:30 p.m. when she was struck by a Ford F-350 truck, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Joseph Horvath, 24, of East Palestine, was driving southbound when he struck Marquez-Torres, the patrol reported. Marquez-Torres had been at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital prior to the incident.
Drugs, alcohol and speed are not suspected to be a factor, the state patrol confirmed Tuesday. The crash remains under investigation, and there are no charges at this time.
