Campaign encourages pride in community
The Mahoning County Convention and Visitors Bureau’s Snapshots of Youngstown Fall 2020 promotion is underway.
The goal of the interactive campaign is to invite the public to get out and support small businesses in Mahoning County during the pandemic, then share their experiences via photos.
The promotion will run through Oct. 31.
Participants are invited to give local businesses a “virtual high five” by patronizing them and documenting their visit.
“Local businesses really need our support during this challenging time. We think this will be a fun and easy way to do that,” Linda Macala, the bureau’s executive director, said.
People can win a gift card to places such as White House Fruit Farm, Youngstown Clothing Company, Stone Fruit Coffee and Handel’s — to name a few, she said.
The photos will be used to promote the local businesses on social media and possibly in future convention and visitors bureau marketing campaigns promoting Youngstown and Mahoning County.
The campaign also encourages the public to get out and visit popular local places, such as parks and museums.
“We hope people will get out and enjoy the cooler temperatures and beautiful fall color while staying safe by following CDC guidelines,” Macala said. “Fall is a great time to rediscover Youngstown and all we have in our own backyard, and have some fun at the same time.”
