Boardman man set for trial on sex charges against kids

Charged with rape, sex charges against kids

YOUNGSTOWN — Robert Boyd, 50, of West Boulevard in Boardman, is scheduled to go on trial Monday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court on rape and other sex charges.

During a hearing Wednesday before Judge Maureen Sweeney, Boyd refused a plea agreement offered by prosecutors.

Boyd is accused of offenses against three children. The rape charges involve two children.

If he is convicted of rape, he could get more than 10 years in prison on each count. His 15-count indictment also includes charges of gross sexual imposition, disseminating matter harmful to juveniles and illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance.

The judge told Boyd no more plea offers will be made after Wednesday, so he either goes to trial Monday or pleads guilty to all charges.
