YOUNGSTOWN — A city man, 27, told police that he was pulled into a car, robbed of his wallet, assaulted and pushed back out of the car Tuesday evening. It happened on Mayfield Avenue on the West Side, according to the police report.

The man said he was called over to the vehicle by three men inside who asked if they knew him. He said they looked familiar, then the men pulled him into the car.

They drove him around telling him to give them everything, the report states. He gave him his wallet, which contained $1,000, plus his cellphone. They tried to take his gold chain from his neck but it wouldn’t come off, so they hit him in the head several times with a handgun, causing bleeding, he told police.

Then they pushed him back out.

Ambulance personnel arrived, but the victim said he didn’t need to go to the hospital.
