Woman released after probation hearing

YOUNGSTOWN — Jasmine M. Jackson, 24, of Liberty Township was released from the Mahoning County jail Monday after being found guilty of a probation violation earlier in Struthers Municipal Court.

Judge Dominic Leone ordered her to serve an additional year on probation a 2017 conviction for misdemeanor possession of controlled substances.

Jackson was charged with a probation violation for her actions in February while members of the U.S. Marshal’s Violent Fugitives Task Force were trying to apprehend Robert L. Shelton, 44, who was later found at Jackson’s apartment.

Authorities say she lied about Shelton’s whereabouts when police went there looking for him.

Jackson was also charged in Girard Municipal Court with felony obstruction of justice for her actions, but she has not yet appeared in that court.

Shelton waived a preliminary hearing on charges of aggravated murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm Feb. 21 and is awaiting action by a Mahoning County grand jury on his charges.

Shelton is accused of shooting to death Dymond D. Ortello, 34, outside of the Brothers of Power Classic Cars Club on Logan Avenue Feb. 9.
