Car crashes into craft store

An elderly driver drove her vehicle through the front window of Michaels craft store in Boardman this morning. Crews are working to clean up the mess. No injuries were reported.

BOARDMAN — No injuries were reported after a vehicle went through windows Friday at Michaels crafts, 365 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Boardman police department records show the crash occurred at about 9:30 a.m., when a report of a car that “came through the window” was received.

Once first responders arrived, the records show they determined there were no injuries.

An employee at the store said she heard glass shattering during a customer transaction at the front of the store. One of the car wheels was still spinning after the car came to a stop, and the employee said she told the driver — an older woman — to put the car in park.

Once the car was extracted from the building, cleaning crews could be seen cleaning glass and other debris.

A call to Michaels corporate office was not returned Friday.

Police were investigating.
