Brother leads police to woman who crashed, fled

YOUNGSTOWN — Dlashun M. Delaine, 35 of Woodside Avenue, was charged with failure to stop after a 5:35 p.m. accident Monday on Market Street at Glenaven Avenue.

Police said they were called to the location and found that one of the two vehicles involved left the scene. A male approached officers and told them his sister was the one who left and was driving his vehicle.

Officers spoke with Delaine over the phone, and she admitted she was driving during the accident and was now at her Woodside address.

When officers went there, they found the vehicle in the driveway with heavy front end damage and air-bag deployment. Delaine again admitted to being the driver and was cited for failure to stop and driving under suspension, a report states.

She pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Youngstown Municipal Court and was released on a personal recognizance bond, meaning she didn’t have to pay anything.
