Mother and son plead to endangering children

YOUNGSTOWN — Jeremy Betts and his mother, Gloria Betts, both of Edinburgh Avenue in Austintown, pleaded guilty to charges Wednesday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court related to the abuse of two children.

Jeremy Betts, 34, pleaded guilty to two counts of felony child abuse, and prosecutors will recommend to Judge Maureen Sweeney that he get four years in prison.

Gloria Betts, 61, pleaded guilty to two counts of obstructing official business, and prosecutors will recommend that she get probation, court officials said.

Jeremy Betts’ charges stemmed from allegations he hit the children with cords. His mother’s charges relate to allegations she misled police on what was happening.
