BOARDMAN — Boardman schools treasurer Nicholas Ciarniello said everything is moving along for an upcoming auction of furniture and equipment from the former Market Street Elementary School.

“The auction should be ready soon,” Ciarniello said at a recent Boardman Board of Education meeting.

He told board members Bus Movers LLC is in charge of the auction. That company takes photos and puts the items on their online public auction website to try to get top dollar.

Ciarniello said there is a lot of furniture from Market that was excess, but there also are a couple of nice lawn mowers.

While the sale of excess items from the Market Street school was part of Boardman’s inter-district moving that took place over the summer, another segment of the moves was highlighted by Superintendent Tim Saxton.

“I just want to congratulate the custodial staff in moving the board office to the high school,” he said.

Several custodians were in the audience and were introduced and thanked for their role in making such a big move and still meeting the opening day of school. That move included a remodel of Boardman Center Intermediate School to accommodate the fourth grade.

To showcase what was done over the summer, Saxton showed a brief video of the crews at work in each school.

“There are a lot of moving parts in this school district and maintenance is one of them,” said board President Jeffrey Barone.

“They did a good job,” he said.

In other business, the board:

l Approved a shared services agreement with South Range to educate one of its students. Saxton said since Boardman took over the intervention center, it has allowed the district to enter agreements with other school districts.

l Saxton mentioned the resignation and transfer of staff members that involved the transportation department. He said with Market Street closing and the move of the fourth grade to Center, the bus routes were all changing to meet the new setup.
