Former supermarket to be renovated into Veterans Service Commision complex
YOUNGSTOWN – The Mahoning County Commissioners today announced that they will be applying $650,000 in state funding for a $7 million state-of-the-art Veterans Service Commission office on Belmont Avenue in Youngstown.
The project is being run by the Western Reserve Port Authority, which has purchased the existing former A&P supermarket next to the Veterans Administration building with plans already coming together for a major renovation to the former A&P building, which the county will own.
The Veterans Service Commission is now in the county’s Oak Hill office building on Oak Hill Avenue on the South Side.
The Board of Mahoning County Commissioners and the Veteran’s Service Commission are excited to announce that the State of Ohio dedicated $650,000 in capital funding for a new state-of-the-art Veterans Center on Belmont Avenue in Youngstown. The 23,000-square-foot building sits adjacent to the Carl Nunziato Veterans Administration Building.
