Car damaged as it passes by South Side street fight

YOUNGSTOWN — Police recovered eight spent bullet shell casings in the 100 block of West Evergreen Avenue on the South Side when they were called to the area for a Shot Spotter notification at 10:26 p.m. Sunday.

Two individuals reported hearing the gunfire, and a third person who called 911 reported that her vehicle was struck by the bullets while she was driving on West Evergreen, according to a Youngstown police report.

She said she was driving down West Evergreen and saw about five people in the middle of the street fighting. She said she drove around them, and within a few seconds, she heard gunfire striking her vehicle.

She said one of the people in the street was wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt. Another was wearing a white T-shirt.

The woman’s car had several bullet holes on the driver’s side. There were no injuries.
