Sun. 11:30 a.m.: Boy, 7, shot to death in Youngstown Sunday morning in apparent accident
YOUNGSTOWN — A boy, 7, was shot to death, apparently in an accident, at a home in the 300 block of Marmion Avenue on the South Side at 8:02 a.m. today.
When officers arrived, they began life saving measures as they waited for the arrival of paramedics. An EMT Ambulance crew arrived and transported the boy to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to a Youngstown police press release.
Youngstown detectives and crime scene investigators were called to the scene and investigated.
“It is early in the investigation, but it appears that this was an accidental shooting,” the press release states.
“We have not ruled out other possibilities and will continue the difficult process of investigating this tragic death,” Lt. Mohammad Awad of the detective division stated in the release.
“We will also confer with prosecutors down the road regarding possible charges,” he stated. “No other details are available at this time,” the release stated.
The location of the shooting is south of Indianola Avenue near Rush Boulevard.
