Tue. 11:42 a.m.: Testimony begins in Youngstown aggravated murder trial

YOUNGSTOWN — Testimony has begun in the aggravated murder trial of Lavontae Knight, 26, including the playing of the 911 recording of the surviving witness in the case talking a 911 operator the night her boyfriend, Trevice Harris, 37, was shot to death. She also was shot twice.

It was difficult to hear what the woman said because of her emotional state, but when the call taker asked who had shot her and her boyfriend, she said “Slim,” which prosecutors say is Knight’s nickname.

The case is being heard by Judge John Durkin in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court. The killing took place Dec. 30, 2018, in a car on the South Side of Youngstown.
