Mason, Foghat, Travers announced for Robins Theatre
WARREN — A pair of classic rock shows go on sale Friday at the Robins Theatre.
Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Dave Mason brings his World in Changes tour to downtown Warren on July 8 and a double bill of Foghat and the Pat Travers Band will play the venue on Aug. 12.
Mason was a founding member of the band Traffic, which was inducted into the Rock Hall in 2004. He left Traffic in 1969 to pursue a solo career that includes three gold albums (“Alone Together,” “Dave Mason,” “Mariposa De Oro”) and the platinum-selling “Let It Flow,” which included the top 10 single “We Just Disagree.”
In addition to his own albums, Mason performed on or contributed to such classic albums as The Rolling Stones’ “Beggars Banquet,” George Harrison’s “All Things Must Pass,” Paul McCartney and Wingsà “Venus and Mars” and Jimi Hendrix’s “Electric Ladyland.”
Tickets range from $35 to $90.
Foghat, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, started when Lonesome Dave Prevertt and Roger Earl left Savoy Brown to create a new band. Foghat released eight gold, one platinum and one double-platinum album in its career and is best known for such rock radio hits as “Slow Ride,” “Fool for the City,” “Stone Blue,” “Third Time Lucky (First Time I Was a Fool)” and its cover of “I Just Want to Make Love to You.”
Earl is the lone original member in a lineup that includes Bryan Bassett, who started out with Wild Cherry and also spent six years as a member of Molly Hatchet; Scott Holt, who spent 10 years playing guitar in blues legend Buddy Guy’s band; and Rodney O’Quinn, who also has played bass in the Pat Travers Band.
Travers is best known for the classic rock staple “Boom Boom (Out Go the Lights),” which Youngstown boxer Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini used at his fights.
Tickets for Foghat and the Pat Travers Band range from $30 to $50.
Both shows start at 8 p.m. and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the Robins box office and online at robinstheatre.com.
