YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County Coroner’s Office has identified the man killed in a Wednesday morning crash along Market Street in Boardman as Jonathan Wood, 42, of Springfield, Ala.

Boardman police said an officer spotted a person in a pickup truck driving erratically and running a red light near Shields Road at around 1 a.m.

When the officer tried to pull the truck over, the driver fled, crashing into a utility pole on the east side of Market Street near Akron Childrenás Hospital. The pole was damaged but remained standing. The crash brought down power lines across Market Street, resulting in Market Street being closed until late Wednesday for repairs by First Energy.
