Mom sentenced in child endangering case

Cheyanne Busse

AUSTINTOWN — A woman whose son twice was found wandering was sentenced to 30 days in jail after entering a guilty plea to child endangering and petty theft, which was a violation of her probation.

Cheyanne Busse, 22, with addressed in Austintown and Mineral Ridge, will spend the next 30 days in Mahoning County jail.

In Mahoning County Court 4, Busse changed her not guilty plea to guilty on Monday on the two charges and was given her sentence. She was given 20 days for the child endangering case and 10 days for the petty theft, according to court records.

On April 13, Busse’s 3-year-old son was found wandering the parking lot of a business in Mineral Ridge. The child was found wearing nothing but a diaper and was carrying a blanket, a police report states. Busse told police the child must have gotten out on his own as he was asleep when she last checked on him.

For this case, Busse was fined $1,000 fine and sentenced to six months of probation.

A little over a month later, Busse was arrested once more after her son was found wandering in Austintown with his pet dog. Busse was staying at a relative’s house and the boy left the home, with Busse saying the boy “must have unlocked the door and walked out with the dog,” according to a police report.

A woman found the boy and took him to her residence to wait for police.
