Woman arraigned in connection to Rowan Sweeney killing

YOUNGSTOWN — Odyssey O. Butler-Reed, 19, was arraigned today in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court on tampering with evidence in connection to the Rowan Sweeney killing.

Rowan 4, was shot to death Sept. 21, 2020, in the home on Perry Street in Struthers where he lived with his mother, Alexis Schneider. She and three other adults were also shot but survived.

Butler-Reed, of Youngstown, is accused of deleting social media posts written by her boyfriend, Brandon Crump Jr., 18, who also was indicted last week in the case.

Crump is charged with aggravated murder and other charges that could result in the death penalty if he is convicted. Crump, who is in the Mahoning County jail, will be arraigned next week.

At Butler-Reed’s arraignment from the jail, she pleaded not guilty, and her bond was set at $15,000. She’s been in jail since Friday.
