Michael Stanley Gee, known to music fans throughout northeast Ohio as Michael Stanley, died Friday at age 72 after a 7-month battle with lung cancer.

The Michael Stanley Band, which featured several musicians and crew members from the Mahoning Valley, had a massive following in the region, selling out Blossom Music Center in August 1982.
