Youngstown puts moratorium on water disconnections through Jan. 4

YOUNGSTOWN — The city has placed a moratorium on water disconnections through Jan. 4 for those who can’t pay their bills.

In a Friday statement, Water Commissioner Harry Johnson III said: “The holiday season is upon us and we understand the impact that COVID-19 continues to have on our families.”

Though the moratorium on disconnections is in effect, the city is encouraging customers to make regular payments.

The department’s customer service office on the first floor of city hall, 26 S. Phelps St., is open to the public from 9 a.m. to noon though is closed the rest of this week. All customers must wear a face mask and pass security and temperature checks before being allowed inside.
