POSTPONEMENT NOTICE: Due to poor weather, the Bike Month Walk and Bike at the Market will be postponed until June 11. The bike groups are cancelled. The walking group will still take place weather permitting. The new date will be June 11.

BIKE BELMONT RIDE: Building A Better Belmont is hosting the Fourth Annual Bike Belmont on Sunday at Wick Park, Youngstown.

This family-friendly cycling event offers something for riders of all levels. Community participants may choose a 5- or 12-mile police-escorted ride, while experienced cyclists can enjoy a 34-mile route from Wick Park to the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport and back. The day concludes with a celebration featuring food trucks, community tents and family-friendly activities back at the park.

Last year, Bike Belmont welcomed 300 riders, including Liberty Township trustees, the mayor of Youngstown, members of Youngstown City Council, and residents from Liberty, Youngstown and neighboring communities. Local business owners contributed water, biking supplies, snacks and encouragement along the route.

BIGFOOT FESTIVAL: The annual Bigfoot Festival will be noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at Beaver Creek State Park.

The event will feature a group camp in the park on Friday and Saturday, Bigfoot investigations, speakers and vendors. The Friends of Beaver Creek State Park, one of the sponsors of the event, will have its monthly pancake breakfast in the lower level of the barn from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday.

The other sponsor of the Bigfoot Festival is David Wolf, a researcher and filmmaker with “Exposing the Strange” and “Coshocton County Bigfoot.” Along with him will be Jay Fouch and Larry Felski of Coshocton County Bigfoot; Johnny Freeman, a psychic and Bigfoot researcher; Doug Waller, a Bigfoot investigator and author; and Carrie Beegle, a cryptid researcher of Dogman Encounters. Their presentations will be in the upper level of the barn in Pioneer Village.

The public is welcome at the breakfast, whether or not they are attending the Bigfoot event. The cost is $10 for adults and $4 for children under 6.

SPEAKER SERIES KICKOFF: The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown is kicking off its summer J. Newman Levy Speaker series with “Women in History: Dorothy Fuldheim” at 5:30 p.m. May 27 at the JCC, 505 Gypsy Lane. Dinner is included. The event is free, but registration is required by May 21. Fuldheim was a Jewish-American news journalist and television broadcaster who is credited with being the first woman in the United States to anchor a television news broadcast, as well as to host her own television show.

Other events in the series include Marcia Levy discussing the stories behind some of America’s favorite films, comedian Robin Fox, and The Klezmer Orchestra playing Klezmer’s greatest hits.
