Community News: Civil War reenactment planned in Canfield

CIVIL WAR REENACTMENT: The Argus Park Civil War Reenactment will take place Saturday and Sunday at the park, 5050 Shields Road, Canfield. There will be a Civil War battle brass band, Abraham Lincoln presentation, live fire mortar presentation and surgeon presentation. Admission is $10 with children under 10 free.

HYMN SING: Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2985 Center Road (U.S. 224) in Poland, will host a hymn sing at 10 a.m. Sunday at the church with all denominations welcome. People can request songs at the event.

ICE CREAM SOCIAL: The Friends of Beaver Creek State Park will have an ice cream social as part of the monthly Village Cones Alive from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday in Pioneer Village. The public can enjoy different flavors of homemade ice cream, watch grain being stone ground in Gaston’s Mill and tour the historic buildings.

ARCHAEOLOGY SOCIETY TO MEET: The Mahoning Valley Archaeological Society will meet at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Georgeanna Parker Cabin in Boardman Park for an evening of archaeology history and fellowship. Guest speaker will be Evan Gallo of Evan Gallo Auctioneers who will be present for the program. After the presentation, attendees are invited to bring artifacts from their own collections to share and discuss. Raffle items will be available. The event is free to the public.

OPEN HOUSE: The Moss Ancestral Home, 1499 Burnett St., Weathersfield, will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday amnd on the second Sunday of each month through November.

The Mineral Ridge Historical Society, which is located across the street from the Moss Ancestral Home, will be open during the same time. The Moss Home was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2023.

FREE LAWN CONCERT: The Guiding Light Presbyterian Church, 890 Churchill Road, will host a free lawn concert at 2 p.m. Sunday with Rudy and the Professionals. There will be a basket raffle and free refreshments. Those attending can bring a lawn chair.

RUMMAGE SALE: Good Hope Lutheran Church, 12030 Market St., North Lima, will have a rummage sale 9 a.m. to 1 p.m, today and Saturday.

ST. NICHOLAS SUMMERFEST; The St. Nicholas Greek Summerfest, 220 N. Walnut St., Youngstown, will have its 42nd annual fest 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. today and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. There will be Greek music and dancing and food.

HUBBARD FARMERS MARKET: The Hubbard Farmers Market will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Roosevelt Student Wellness Center, 110 Orchard Ave., Hubbard.
