COMMUNITY NEWS: Libraries have cooling rooms available
COOLING SPACES: The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County branches will serve as cooling spaces during the heat advisory this week. Community members seeking relief from the heat will have meeting rooms available to the public to cool off. The libraries are air conditioned and have drinking water.
COMMUNITY FEEDBACK: The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County will host a community feedback meeting 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Poland Library about the future of the branch. Attendees will have the opportunity to submit questions and comments concerning the recent announcement to explore relocating the branch after a study found deficiencies at the branch that date back to the original design and construction.
COMMUNITY BIKE RIDE: YO! Motion is a community collaborative promoting cycling as safe, accessible and healthy mode of transportation The Mobilizing Midlothian Community Bike Ride and Health Fair will be 1 to 4 pm. Sunday. The free bike ride is a family-friendly event. There will be free health screenings, food trucks and social and health services. For information, call Ronnell at 330-951-8090.
PHOTO HOLDER: Girard Free Library will a host a rock photo-holder craft event at 3 p.m. today. Smooth river rocks will be used for creating photo holders. All material will be provided. Miniature golf will take place at 6 pm. Thursday. For information call 330-545-2508.
KIDNEY TRANSPLANT SURVIVOR; A vendor show fundraiser for Eric Oliver, who needs a kidney transplant, will take place 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Cornerstone Church, 910 N Croton Ave, New Castle, Pa. There will be vendors, a 50 / 50 raffle, basket raffle, bake sale and face painting. Oliver is in need of a kidney transplant.
