COMMUNITY NEWS: Pollinator Palooza fest set Saturday in Youngstown
POLLINATOR PALOOZA: The Mahoning County Soil and Water Conservation District, in collaboration with Operation Pollination, the Mahoning Land Bank and OSU Extension Mahoning County, will host a Pollinator Palooza Festival 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Mahoning SWCD parking lot, 850 Industrial Road, Youngstown. The free event will celebrate and support pollinators. There will be sales, artisan vendors, food trucks and exhibits. Attendees will have the chance to connect with organizations dedicated to conservation and sustainability.
WASTE COLLECTION: A household hazardous waste collection will take place 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Canfield Fairgrounds off state Route 46. The event is for Mahoning County households only. Business waste will not be accepted. No explosives or pharmaceuticals will be accepted. Collection times are last name begins with A-F 9 to 11 a.m., G-N from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and O-Z 1 to 3 p,.m. SOCIETY TO MEET: The Mahoning County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the ministry building of St. Charles Church, 7345 Westview Drive, Boardman. The theme is “Using DNA for Genealogy.”
BENEFIT SET: Rock, Bark and Roll, which will benefit Legacy Dog Rescue and Never Muzzled, will take place 6 p.m. Saturday at St. Nicholas Great Hall on Fifth Street in Struthers. A performance by Ronnie Navara as Elvis will begin at 8 p.m. The event will include a basket raffle and a money cake raffle. CONVERSATION SET: “Unmute the Conversation Community Dialogue and the Catalyst for Change” will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Wick Park Pavilion, 260 Park Ave., Youngstown. The free gathering will offer participants an opportunity to reflect on how to show up for justice, dialogue and community in a divided world. Participants will receive practical strategies to turn dialogue into impact.
HERB GROWERS: The Holborn Herb Growers Guild will host its annual herb and plant sale 9 a.m to 2 p..m. Saturday at the vegetable building at the Canfield Fairgrounds. Entrance is through Gate 5.
