COMMUNITY NEWS: Adult English classes offered free

FREE ENGLISH CLASS: Registration is now open for free adult English language classes through The English Center of Youngstown. Classes run from Sept. 16 to May 15, 2025 and meet for two-hour sessions twice a week. Both morning and evening classes have openings for all levels of instruction. Emerging Level classes are held in-person in the Youngstown area and Level 1 through Level 4 are live, online. The deadline to register is Sept. 12. There is a $50 registration fee. This non-profit, charitable organization has been serving the Mahoning Valley for over 100 years.

GRAFF TO SPEAK ON 9/11: McKinley Memorial Library presents “Capturing the Human Drama of 9/11 and D-Day Through Oral History with Garrett Graff, 2 p.m. Tuesday. This presentation will be streamed live online.

An expert at capturing the human drama, Graff will speak about his body of work with particular focus on his oral histories, “The Only Plane in the Sky: An Oral History of 9/11” and “When the Sea Came Alive: An Oral History of D-Day.” Visit libraryc.org/mcklib/55737 to register for the live-streamed event, submit questions for the presenter, or view the recording afterward. OPEN HOUSE: The Moss Ancestral House, 1499 Burnett St, Mineral Ridge, will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. The Mineral Ridge Historical Society museum located across from the Moss House will also be open as part of the Ohio Open Doors event sponsored by the Ohio History Connection.
