Boardman fund receives Seidel grant

Staff report

BOARDMAN — The Boardman Schools Fund for Educational Excellence received $4,500 from the Seidel Trust grant.

The money will allow BSFEE to provide three additional $1,500 teacher grants in the Boardman district as part of its teacher grant program.

“We are honored to be the recipients of such a generous grant, and grateful for the opportunity to expand our own program for the fall of 2021,” said excellence fund President Lynda Beichner.

The Seidel Trust was established in 1998 by sisters Aimee and Lulu Seidel, both of whom were teachers in Mahoning County. The mission of the trust is to fund educational programs as well as other charitable efforts in the area.

In 2009, the BSFEE, a component fund of the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley, established its annual teacher grant program. Since its inception, $65,000 in grants to teachers have been awarded to enable them to implement special projects in their classrooms.
