Investment firm buys former Ethan Allen

BOARDMAN — An affiliate of Canfield-based J. Arnold Wealth Management Co. has bought the former Ethan Allen building with plans to remake it into an all-in-one financial center.

CEO and co-founder of the investment firm, Jon P. Arnold, said the planned investment of $300,000 to $400,000 will transform the 16,000-square-foot ex-furniture store into a “financial epicenter” with services that include investments, retirement and estate planning and mortgage loans.

He also sees it as space to host financial workshops, and plans to have an audio studio for his business show that airs on local talk radio and a free public financial library.

“The goal is to make this an all-in-one financial epicenter,” Arnold said.

J. Arnold Property Management Group purchased the building at 8040 Market St., Boardman, for $990,000 from Swing Management LLC, which had owned the property since 2015, according to the Mahoning County Auditor’s Office. The transaction finalized Tuesday.

It was announced in September 2019 the store would close with the retirement of owner Bill Motsinger, who owned it since 1996. Its last day was in November 2019.

Arnold said the plan is to have the building ready to open in November.

“It’s a big square. There are no real walls in there, so we have to build it out, new kitchen, new bathrooms, new offices, those kinds of things,” he said.

His firm on Starr Centre Drive employs eight. He hopes to grow that to 40 to 50 employees making $100,000 each a year. The Canfield office has been put up for sale.
