Health, safety protocols in place at Austintown

AUSTINTOWN — Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course reopened Friday under state-mandated health and safety protocols.

The state Route 46 facility will be open 8 to 3 a.m. and closed 3 to 8 a.m. for deep cleaning daily, and a limit of no more than 50 of the facility’s maximum capacity will be allowed on the gaming floor. In addition, gaming machines are configured to enforce social-distancing requirements and cleaned throughout the day.

Live music, entertainment, convention and banquet services will remain suspended, and no large drawings, tournaments or special events will take place. The valet service will remain closed.

Also, team members and vendors are required to wear masks and will undergo a health screening each day, including temperature checks, prior to their shift. Guests are encouraged to wear masks and must respond to a health screening prior to entry.

“While the amenities our customers have come to know and love may be somewhat limited for the time being, the ability to safely welcome back our team members and guests remains our top priority,” said Allie Evangelista, vice president and general manager. “With this in mind, we have been working closely with the Ohio Lottery Commisssion, state and local leaders and public health officials to finalize comprehensive Phase I reopening protocols and new health and safety precautions.

“Our returning team members will be trained on these procedures, and our guests will see reminder signage about them throughout the property.”
