Mooney student shot after football game at YSU
YOUNGSTOWN — Cardinal Mooney High School Principal Brendan Considine issued a statement Saturday night stating that a Cardinal Mooney student was injured as a result of a gunshot after the Cardinal Mooney football game at the Youngstown State University football stadium Saturday night.
The student was “taken straight to the hospital. The student is recovering and is in stable condition,” the statement on the school’s Facebook page states.
“The student’s family thanks you for your continued prayers for a full and speedy recovery,” it adds.
A large police presence was seen at the stadium at the time of the incident, a media report states. YSU sent out a statement to alert the YSU community at 9:39 p.m. to avoid the football stadium, a report states. The YSU statement added that the situation was “under control.”
Mooney played Chardon High School starting at 7 p.m.
